Good v Bad
I have been tracking student attitude lately. Nothing fancy, just noting if my students have been in a positive and learning mood, or a defiant, lazy, and mean mood. The plot diagram looks like a roller coaster. It has features as one might expect where Mondays and Fridays are the worst days. Tuesdays are good days if there was school on Monday.
But...
There are so many other factors that I am noticing.
Were there more tests on a given day?
Bad.
Was there something fun for the students that day?
Good.
Was there tension between students?
Bad.
Is there notable tension with teachers?
Very Bad.
Have we had a few good teaching day that were not interrupted?
Good.
Have students had a chance to be patient with their learning and have time to digest?
Very Good.
I know. This is not rocket science. But, if we want great teachable days with our kids, we really need to pay attention to these factors that impact their days.
Be Mindful.
Peace.
